By seaplane and just 35 minutes from Male International Airport, guests can reach the beautiful Atmosphere Kanifushi. Off the beaten track, on a remote edge of the Lhaviyani Atoll, lies the pristine tropical retreat. The island, which is about two kilometers long and 90 meters wide, is lush with green palm trees and dense tropical vegetation. Accommodations
At Atmosphere Kanifushi, guests can choose from seven different villa categories, so everyone can find accommodation to suit their tastes. In total, there are 132 detached bungalows with sunset views and 40 overwater villas on the island, offering complete privacy. Each Beach Villa is surrounded by coconut palms and tropical vegetation and has direct access to the white, fine sandy beach and turquoise sea.
All Overwater Villas are located in the northwestern lagoon of the island and are spread over two wooden walkways that are connected in the middle. The result is a stylish crossroads that creates the perfect promenade for walking, listening to the sound of the sea and admiring the underwater world.
Gastronomy
The Spice
The main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests will find a wide selection of international cuisine – from freshly prepared dishes to order, to a rich buffet with live cooking stations, BBQ and grill, to special theme nights.
Ceylon Bliss
Ceylon Bliss serves authentic light meals and drinks in the style of Sri Lanka’s street food cuisine. The fragrant dishes are freshly prepared in a rustic wooden hut and can be enjoyed by guests outdoors under the shade of a large tree by the sea. The restaurant is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on all days except Wednesday and Sunday.
Just Veg
As the first vegetarian à la carte restaurant in the Maldives (to be ranked high on TripAdvisor), Just Veg serves fine gourmet cuisine from the Arabic, Indian and Mediterranean regions, as well as a special menu from Jain cuisine. Guests enjoy their lunch or dinner on a terrace overlooking the turquoise ocean. As they gaze down at the lagoon below them, inhabited by baby reef sharks, they are treated to an endless variety of innovative, contemporary vegetarian dishes – a perfect exotic indulgence experience.
Pier Six
Opened in December 2019, Pier Six is a new overwater restaurant located near the water villas. It offers a variety of culinary options, including seafood, Japanese dishes from the teppanyaki grill, and a brand new selection of steamed dishes. The Pier Six Restaurant is shaped like a manta ray and can accommodate up to 60 guests indoors and outdoors. For water villa guests, meals at this restaurant are included once a week as part of the Atmosphere Kanifushi PlanTM – with the exception of the teppanyaki grill.
The Sunset
In the evenings, the Sunset Pool Bar transforms into an à la carte restaurant serving fine dining. The restaurant specialises in fusion cuisine and presents the best of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine with a selection of grilled meats. A gourmet experience at The Sunset is included once a week for Beach Villa guests as part of the Atmosphere Kanifushi PlanTM .
Marrakech
Moroccan magic with a selection of aromatic shishas, Moroccan tea and coffee is charmingly hidden in an alcove near the Sunset Pool Bar.
Bars
The two pool bars, The Liquid and The Sunset Pool Bar, offer refreshments, cocktails, signature drinks, branded spirits, mocktails, coffee or tea. All of these drinks are already included in the Atmosphere Kanifushi PlanTM .
The Liquid pool bar offers guests the relaxed atmosphere of the Maldivian island. On the outside deck, hammocks and beach huts are dotted along the stunning 50-metre pool overlooking the vast, deep blue ocean. Every evening from 5 to 7 p.m., a popular fish and chips menu is served. Liquid also hosts theme nights, special disco nights, and live performances throughout the year.
The Sunset Pool Bar is a relaxed beachfront restaurant with breathtaking views of the tranquil, crystal-clear lagoon and the horizon. It offers an adults-only pool with views of the sunset side of the island. The bar is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and treats guests to an à la carte lunch menu with classic burgers, sandwiches, light snacks and refreshing drinks.

Dive
The PADI-licensed dive and water sports center at Atmosphere Kanifushi is run by Dive & Sail, whose team is made up of dive professionals from around the world. Both beginners and experienced divers can experience the fascinating marine life at the house reef just offshore, as well as several other remote dive and snorkeling sites. A range of diving courses are offered for guests.
Dive: Lhaviyani Atoll offers some of the most beautiful dive sites in the Maldives. The most famous are The Shipyard, Fushivaru Thila, Anemone Thila and Aliha Giri. Since Kanifushi Island is located at the westernmost tip of Lhaviyani Atoll, there is also the opportunity to visit some of Baa Atoll’s famous dive sites. Guests can observe rare manta rays there all year round.
Activities & Recreation
Daily snorkeling trips
As part of the Atmosphere Kanifushi PlanTM , daily snorkeling trips to various locations are offered, which guests can participate in free of charge. In addition, the free use of snorkeling equipment allows them to dive into the underwater world as they please during their entire stay.
Kid’s Club
The expansive Kid’s Club at Atmosphere Kanifushi offers indoor and outdoor play areas for the little ones and supervision by trained staff. Fun activities, adventures and learning experiences provide a lot of fun and variety. For children under the age of four, a babysitting service is also available for a fee.
Excursions & Adventures
In addition to the magnificent island of Kanifushi, guests can also explore the expanses of the Indian Ocean and nearby islands on excursions. A number of adventurous and cultural excursions take place throughout the week. These include a picnic on an uninhabited island or several visits to local islands, where guests learn more about their inhabitants and their history. Guests can also enjoy a free sunset fishing trip during their stay, as well as another excursion of their choice.
Fitness & The Clubhouse
The island’s sports and leisure centre offers guests a wide range of daily and weekly activities, which are specially designed for adults and young adults. From fitness to adventure, whether social activities or competitive sports – they are all included in the accommodation price as part of the Atmosphere Kanifushi PlanTM . Guests have access to a fully equipped gym, floodlit tennis court, free yoga classes, beach volleyball and outdoor and indoor recreational activities to keep their holiday active.
Aquatics
During the stay, a selection of non-motorised water sports can be used free of charge. These include windsurfing equipment, catamarans, canoes and stand-up paddle boards.
Medical facilities
Kanifushi Island has a medical center with a local doctor who is available around the clock for medical emergencies. There is also a boat service to the nearest hospital at any time.
Journey
Velana International Airport is located on the island of Hulhulé, about two kilometers from the capital Malé. From the airport, guests travel by seaplane with Trans Maldivian Airways to Kanifushi Island. Waiting times are bridged in the private Atmosphere Lounge near the seaplane jetty. There, guests are offered small snacks, there is a shower and check-in can be done in advance. The flight takes about 35 minutes and offers beautiful views of the islands. Soon, a transfer via a nearby local airport with a short boat ride to Kanifushi will also be offered. This makes the journey even more comfortable.
Upon entering the Maldives, guests receive a free visa that is valid for 90 days.
