Zambia is a landlocked country in south-central Africa and is surrounded by eight countries, including Angola, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. It is particularly known for its breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife and warm hospitality.
One of Zambia’s outstanding geographical features is the impressive Victoria Falls, one of the largest and most famous waterfalls in the world, known locally as “Mosi-oa-Tunya”, which means “The Smoke That Thunders”. This natural beauty attracts tourists from all over the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Zambia’s economy is heavily dependent on the copper mining industry, but agriculture also plays a central role, especially maize cultivation. However, Zambia faces numerous economic challenges, including poverty and unemployment.
The population of Zambia is ethnically and culturally diverse with over 70 ethnic groups speaking a variety of languages and dialects. English is the official language and serves as the connecting language. Zambians are generally known for their friendly and welcoming nature, and the country is often described as one of the safest countries in Africa for travelers.
Zambia also has abundant wildlife and offers numerous opportunities for safaris. National parks such as South Luangwa National Park and Lower Zambezi National Park are home to elephants, lions, leopards and many other animal species.
Although it is fraught with challenges, Zambia remains a country of impressive natural beauty, cultural diversity and great potential. It represents an important hub in the region and is a key player in the joint efforts for development and stability in south-central Africa.
