Kategorie – Rwanda

Often referred to as the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” Rwanda is a landlocked country in East Africa, known for its stunning landscapes, wildlife, and intricate history.

Rwanda is a small, densely populated country bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Despite its size, Rwanda is a country with a rich culture and diversity, influenced by the Hutu, Tutsi and Twa ethnic groups.

Rwanda’s history is marked by conflicts and tensions between the ethnic groups that led to the genocide of the Tutsi in 1994. The genocide has left deep scars, but the country has made significant progress in overcoming its past and is constantly working towards national reconciliation and reconstruction.

In terms of the economy, Rwanda has made considerable progress since the genocide and is one of the fastest growing countries in Africa. The focus is on developing technology and improving agricultural production. Rwanda is also known for its environmental initiatives, including the ban on plastic bags and the monthly environmental action “Umuganda”, which encourages citizens to work together.

Tourism plays a crucial role in Rwanda’s economy, attracted by national parks such as Volcanoes National Park, home to endangered mountain gorillas, and Akagera National Park, where visitors can experience abundant wildlife.

Rwanda’s culture is diverse and vibrant, with traditional dances, music, and handicrafts passed down from generation to generation. Rwanda is also a place of dialogue and learning, where people strive to come to terms with the past and build a hopeful future.
